OPEN SHOW HELD ON 28^TH JANUARY 2024

 

 

I would like to thank the Committee for inviting me to judge at this show.  Thank you to all the competitors who supported the club giving them an excellent entry.  There was a lovely friendly and warm atmosphere throughout the show and as always with the SEWSSC – very well organised. Special thanks to Pam Wren and her team for the excellent lunch and refreshments, to Tracy Bennet as Show Manager and her team and my two very professional Stewards Pam Blay and Netty.

Dogs

Veteran Dog (8)

1^st Mis S Barcley’s - Sh Ch Cherryheath Mr Mischief JW ShCM VW

This 12.5 year old gentleman still enjoying his show career and moving well around the ring.  Has a lovely proportioned head with soft expression, a lovely neck flowing into well laid shoulders. Still has good muscle, good angulations and tight feet.  His fading colour giving him a very distinguished appearance. BVD

2^nd Caldwell & McDowell, Mrs AP and Mrs M  - Bowdonia only the Brave for Cerysan

Beautifully presented 9 year old.  Lovely compact conformation and gentle kind expression.  Good angulations and muscle – moved with drive around the ring.

Minor Puppy Dog (2)

1^st Johnstone Mr P & Mrs G  -  Glenbrows Erasmus for Gilpeta

8 months old;  developing nicely beginning to muscle up and showing good shoulder and rear angulations.  Has lovely head and gentle expression, lovely tight feet. Front movement a little close at the moment but will probably change as he matures.

2^nd Morphy Mrs S & Mr T  - Caergrawnt Wight Willow with Echophy

Still at the baby puppy stage at just 6 months.  Developing well and enjoying his day out.  His movement erratic at first but I asked his handler to walk first around the ring then move a little faster when he then showed off his lovely springy movement.  A promising young lad.

1^st Barcley Miss S -  Jacranella Galahad of Cherryheath (AI)

Quite a mature 11 month old. Well muscled with good shoulder and rear angulations.  Lovely nicely proportioned head with typical gentle expression.  Deep in chest and good strong bone – moved well around the ring. BPD & BPIS

Junior Dog (2) (1 ab)

1^st Caldwell & Levy Mrs AP & Mrs C – Cerysan Limited Edition

17 months – This happy young lad is well muscled with lovely compact conformation.  Good ear set and gentle expression. Good sound movement, developing and maturing well. Has a very pleasing outline – I will be watching him in the future - I think he will have a very interesting show career.

Lovely head with well set ears; good shoulder and rear angulations.  Well muscled  - moved well around the ring.

Graduate Dog (4)

1^st Bennet Mrs T – Cerysan Crusader

Three year old.  Lovely proportioned head with gentle expression. Ears well set.   Good overall conformation with nice angulations.  Well balanced with lovely movement.

2^nd Stone Mr C & Mrs K – Kidenoan Mark Time for Merrem JW

Developing well, Lovely head with well set ears. Good reach of neck flowing into well placed shoulders. Well muscled – moved with drive.

Post Graduate Dog (2)

1^st White Mrs S – Mymmsbrook Malbec with Fiergen

Lovely balanced head, well chiselled below the eyes.  Lovely neck with good overall conformation. Good depth of chest – well muscled - moved well with drive.

2^nd Primmer Miss A.  Amanshe Lone Ranger

Well presented in beautiful condition  – lovely head with well set ears and good rear angulation.  Narrow in chest.

1^st Gaylor & Robertson Miss CJ & Mr I – Heniveruce King of Brewers for Aprilflash

Beautifully presented in excellent condition.  Lovely head planes with soft eye and gentle expression. Lovely clean neck with good shoulders. Good spring of rib - Well muscled hind quarters – moved well. RBD

2^ND Jones Mrs SD – Trosley Tamoshanta

Good overall conformation and good front and rear angulations.  Lovely neck, well muscled with good bone and deep chest. Moved well

Beautifully presented dog shown in immaculate condition.  Well balanced head with correct ear set and lovely gentle expression.  Good neck with lovely shoulder and rear angulations.  Good depth of chest and well sprung ribs. Lovely overall conformation.  BD BOS

2^nd Wren Mrs P. Sh Ch Llon Lewys at Gwynmarren

Well muscled mature dog with lovely head and good expression. Clean neck and good shoulder and rear angulations. Good bone, good depth of chest – moved well.

Mature 8 year old – well muscled – sound movement with good bone,  well balanced head and lovely expression.

Well presented – shown in beautiful condition; lovely head and expression;  good topline and lovely angulations – moved well.

20 months; Good overall conformation; lovely neck and good shouders, nice front and rear angulations. moved well – needs time to mature.

Slightly high on back end; short coupled, lovely head and expression, moved well.  Needs time to mature.

Lovely head and expression; clean neck – good shoulders and front and rear angulations. Ribs well sprung; moved well when settled.

Graduate Bitch (1)

1^st Tew Mrs P – Pamicks Dream with Me

Went over this young lady when she was a puppy.  Lovely to see she is maturing slowly but keeping a lovely balanced conformation. Very pretty head.  Lovely neck flowing into well laid shoulders; has a nice spring of rib. Moved well.

Post Graduate Bitch (3)(1abs)

1^st Baldry Mrs L – Llon Llanharran Lleuci

5 year old B. Pretty feminine head, lovely length of neck; good topline and good front and rear angulations. Mover well.

2^nd Primmer Miss A - Amanshe Mermaids Tears

Heavier build than winner; lovely head and ear set;  short in neck; She would present a better overall picture if she was able to loose a little weight.

Without question – the best class of the day, three quality ladies .

1^st Thomas Ms M – Bowdonia Truly Scrumptious

A 2 year old with so much quality. Beautiful feminine well balanced head – lovely ear carriage and soft expression.  Lovely overall balanced conformation and topline; good depth of chest, well muscled, good shoulder and rear angulations. lovely tight feet. Moved with drive. BB BIS

2^nd Ferguson Mrs BM – Julita Raindance at Teaselwood

Lovely 3 year old;  pretty feminine head and lovely eyes giving a gentle expression. Good length of neck flowing into well placed shoulders.  Good depth of chest – well muscled - moved with drive.

1^st Woodward Mrs JM – Hinxwood Fire and Ice

7 year old still running around the ring like a young lady.  Well proportioned head, very feminine; well balanced with good overall conformation. Lovely angulations.  Well deserved RBB.

Thank you to the committee for this appointment and congratulations on a wonderful show. There was a great atmosphere around the hall. The sportsmanship of the exhibitors applauding each class and accepting their places in both shows with grace.

Special Award Junior Dog or Bitch (5, 2)

1^st Johnstone’s Glenbrows Erasmus for Gilpeta - 8 month old dog that was lovely to go over and moved true from all angles and good tail carriage. Slightly domed head with muzzle of equal length and fairly square. Dark eye and moderately low-set ears. Long, muscular neck leading into well-laid-back shoulders. Strong topline with well-arched, short, strong loin. Well-boned and standing on compact feet.

2^nd Caldwell & Levy’s Cerysan Limited Edition - 17 month dog, Domed skull and muzzle slightly shorter than length on skull. Dark eye and ears set level with lower eye. Strong bone standing on compact feet. Strong topline with strong, well arched loin. Moved well in profile showing lively action but tended to carry his tail above his back.

 

Special Award Post Graduate Dog or Bitch (8, 3)

1^st Tew’s Pamicks Dream With Me - a feminine 2 year old bitch just starting to come into her maturity. Loved her head with muzzle medium length and fairly square. Dark eye with low set ears. Strong topline with developed loin and well muscled. Good spring of rib and dept of brisket. Tail set on and low and carried well on the move where she was true and lively.

2^nd Naunton’s Trenzalore Oncoming Storm - 4 year old bitch had a soft head and expression with dark eye. I would prefer a slightly squarer definition to her muzzle. Strong topline and tail set on low which was carried well on the move. Well angulated in front and rear which was shown in her profile movement.

 

Special Award Open Dog or Bitch (13, 3)

This was a strong class with lots of lovely dogs and many I think would swap places on different occasions.

1^st Gaylor & Robertson’s Heniveruce King Of Brewers for Aprilflash - This 3 year old lad caught my eye at the start of the class. Clearly built for endurance he has strength throughout. Masculine head with dark eye and correct ears, slightly domed skull and medium length muzzle which was fairly square with a small taper. Strong, muscular neck leading to sloping shoulders. Deep in brisket with well-sprung ribs and proportionally built without being leggy. Muscular, well arched loin and tail set on low, carried level with the back. Well presented to complete the picture.

2^nd Thomas’ Bowdonia Truly Scrumptious - This 2 year old bitch was close up and pushed the winner. Feminine with a lovely dome to skull and medium-length muzzle. Good depth of chest and spring of rib with strong topline and muscular loin. Well angulated fore and aft. Her tail set is correct, set on low, but she tends to carry it above her topline on the move. However, her movement is lively in profile showing reach and drive and true behind.
